Weaving Tradition into the Present
"Klotho" was born from a quiet revolution, from the detachment from those who urge us to catch up, to change, to fit, to accommodate.
We decided to create something that fits us. We looked back at the old, the simple, the forgotten, to move forward. Inspired by the forgotten arts of the grandmothers, women of another era, whose intention was not only to create something, but also to remain present, we wanted to revive knitting as a modern statement. A statement of the modern woman who chooses to follow her own rhythm, to listen to the needs and to move dynamically in the direction she desires. And that's how it all started.
Our goal is for every "Klotho" bag to be a quiet bridge between the past and the present, in the hands that wove without a pattern and in the women who choose with intention. We do not create objects, we create rhythms. A slower, more deliberate way to hold what you resemble.
The Thread of Fate and Timeless Craftsmanship
In ancient Greek mythology, Klotho was one of the three Fates, the one who wove the thread of life, the one who determined the present. She did not decide for the end, nor for the beginning – but for the now. Her presence became for us a symbol of creation, flow, and awareness of the moment. This internal quality of “the quiet that shapes”, of “the movement that has purpose” is conveyed by the brand “Klotho” in every handmade piece. Each bag is not just material and design, it is a small piece of the present that was shaped slowly, with intention.
Because the life we create – just like the objects we hold – is not predetermined. It is ours.
The Hands Behind the Craft
We are Ariadne and Eleni. Nothing more, and as much as each of us brings with them. Each of us. We have no titles or roles. One makes loops and the other fills them with meaning. Otherwise, we are not sure who knows what. Perhaps with a little more tangled thread on the floor than we would like and a little more coffee than we would admit. Or the opposite. It doesn’t matter so much who we are, as long as we always agree on the color.
We create with our hands, with ideas, at our own pace and feelings. Many times we “unravel and start over”, believing in the less, in the authentic, in the slow. “Clotho” is our attempt to create something else that lasts. That reminds you of something of yours, without knowing what, as if it found its place – so naturally – without you realizing it.
It is a piece of our own journey and we hope it becomes yours, too.
